Every transaction document shipment I know uses window envelopes to send outgoing mail. As a rule, all invoices, bank statements or other items that you print contain the name and delivery address as well as the Smart Mail barcode. These elements are inserted into the document so that when the pages are folded, the information is displayed in the envelope window and the mail is delivered.
ADVANTAGES OF CLOSED FACIAL AREAS
1. Merge jobs - Instead of starting and stopping printers and inserters all day to do small jobs, merge them into larger batches to reduce downtime.
2. Folder Settings: You don't have to mess around with folders to edit window positions or address blocks that vary from job to job.
3. Nested folds - address blocks in documents open on accounts with the largest number of pages, which sometimes leads to deliverability problems. This is not a problem with sealed envelopes printing.
4. Preparation: A daily supply of organized outbound envelopes near the inserter is much easier to handle in a confined space than to constantly move order-specific envelope boxes from one side of the warehouse to the other.
5. Real estate for recovered documents - Document designers no longer need to reserve this large open area on page 1 for the shipping address. You can use the whole page better. This could even lead to a reduction in the number of pages (which saves paper, maintenance clicks, time and possibly postage).
6. Purchasing / Warehouse / Inventory Savings: Buying large quantities of a windowless envelope is probably cheaper than ordering small quantities of individual window designs for each order. Time and money are saved through more efficient use of storage space, easier and waste-free recording due to obsolescence or expired shelf life.
7. Messages: Printing on the front of the envelope doesn't have to be limited to addresses and permissions only. Advertising messages, important notifications, cards, and paid ads can be displayed at the same time, using information from the recipient profile to record the most relevant and appealing content.
8. Softer insertion: The windowpane sticks to the inside of the envelope. If a corner or edge of the plastic is lost, it blocks the feeding of the material and causes a jam. Less clogging leads to higher device productivity and fewer reprints.
As transactional mail volume decreases, the benefits of devices designed to handle large amounts of mail decrease. An insertion process where your average order size can be reset to pre-recession volume by combining the reduced remnants from standalone applications can regain some of the productivity your devices were built for. Switching to sealed envelopes is one way to achieve this.
